Meet the Owner - Robert C. Burke My name is Robert Burke, and I started working at my first UL508A industrial control panel shop in 1998. I started out in the shop, worked my way up within the company learning panel design, estimating, project management, and in 2003, I was managing the business. The owner passed away, and a longtime customer, Tech Conveyor, approached me about setting up a panel shop in their warehouse as a separate division. Tech Panels & Controls was established in 2005, operating as a separate company within Tech Conveyor. Through my years of experience, I’ve mastered the correct methods for designing and building control panels efficiently, cost effectively, and always with the installer and end user in mind. I realize the value of OEM and Vendor relationships in establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
In late 2023, I was given the opportunity to purchase the panel shop division, and we incorporated under the name Tech Panels & Controls Inc. in May of 2024. I am proud of the long-time successful history of Tech Panels & Controls and the decades of experience my shop personnel have brought to the industrial control industry. Robert C. Our Shop Forman - Sergey Smolyar My name is Sergey Smolyar, and my career in the industrial controls industry began in 1977 in Kiev, Ukraine. After relocating to the United States in July of 1992, I began working as a wireman at Panel Hi-Tech, where I further developed my technical expertise in control systems and panel assembly.
In March 2005, I was presented with the opportunity to assist in establishing a new control panel shop at Tech Conveyor Inc.. Shortly thereafter, I assumed the role of Foreman, overseeing production and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality control systems. In 2017, Tech Conveyor Inc. was acquired by SDI Industries, where I continued to lead the control panel shop and maintain operational excellence. Fast forward to May of 2024, SDI decided to discontinue its control panel division. Recognizing the value of our team’s skill and experience, we transitioned into forming Tech Panels and Controls Inc. — where I continue to serve as the current Shop Foreman, continuing to uphold the same high standards of precision, safety, and innovation that have guided my career for nearly five decades.
